Luminex CloudSAFE will allow mainframe customers to soundly store mainframe tape volumes within the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network
Disk-based mainframe virtual tape products and technologies provider Luminex Software and enterprise-class cloud storage services provider, Nirvanix have introduced cloud-based tape vaulting application for mainframe environments.
The application named Luminex CloudSAFE will allow mainframe customers to safely store mainframe tape volumes within the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network and access them globally that have been earlier limited to open or distributed systems.
Luminex CloudSAFE will complement company’s Channel Gateway mainframe virtual tape application, that allows you to allow customers to vault mainframe tape volumes in Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network to eliminate the price of physical tape media, shipping and rancid-site storage.
Nirvanix said that storage and access to the vaulted copies of tape data isn’t restricted to local or regional off-site physical tape vaults.
Tape data should be would becould very well be accessed from anywhere during the Nirvanix Cloud, which addresses business requirements to secure mission-critical data out-of-region from primary data centre operations.
Data stored with Nirvanix may be saved at a number of geographically dispersed locations which might be instantly accessed for compliance and business needs.
The company said, the recent application may be used with any Nirvanix cloud storage services deployment options that come with public, hybrid and personal.
The new application can be available from the fourth quarter of 2012, will support z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE, and S/390 operating systems.
Nirvanix president and CEO Scott Genereux said that mainframe customers now have a brand new option for secure offsite storage of mission-critical data.
“With LUMINEX CloudSAFE, they could gain the similar economic benefits, including consumption-based pricing, of storing, securing and accessing data via the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network as our open and distributed systems users and really implement an enterprise-wide cloud storage strategy,” Genereux said.
